How important is detoxing when it comes to weight loss?

There are a number of factors that are important when it comes to losing weight successfully.  It is important to understand and know what the fat storing hormones are and how to regulate them.  It is also important to understand what the fat burning hormones are and how to stimulate them.  The overall most important thing is to have a balanced endocrine system and body in general.  If you have having trouble with losing weight it’s very possible there is an imbalance somewhere in the body.  One way this can happen is from exposure to chemicals through our environment. Endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) can be responsible for these imbalances.  They are poorly understood but are widely know to cause problems in humans.  Plastics are one of the most common examples of EDC’s.

In the modern world  there are over 75,000 chemical that are floating around in the mediums that are essential for building life.  They are in the air, water, and food and the earth.  These compounds make up the building blocks of biological organisms ( humans and animals).  The follow study shows common plastics that are known as endocrine disruptors.  Some of these plastics and pesticides are commonly found in our environment and are called Xenoestrogens.  The major sources of these are in every day products you buy at the store or pick up in the environment through pollutants.  A few common ones are pesticides, detergents, petroleum products, plastic products, cosmetics, even spermicides used for birth control in diaphragm jellies, condoms and in vaginal gels. This study shows how these common compounds can cause transgenerational inheritance of adult onset disease in rats and in subsequent generations.  Which means the following generation are affected and can develop obesity and other diseases.  This study compared 5 families doing before and after tests on plastic chemical levels after doing this little experiment.  You will be amazed and alarmed.

That is why is is essential to make sure that the bodies detoxifying pathways are functioning.  If there is an imbalance than it must be addressed because that excess estrogen is being stored in fat cells.  According to Environmental Health Perspectives, published this month in the peer-reviewed journal about 70% of the plastic items tested positive for estrogenic activity [EA].  That number increased when everyday stress was applied to the items.  This included washing, microwaving and applying heat.  The number increased to 95%.

The first step to balancing your body for optimal weight loss is is to cut out as much plastic as you can.  The second step is to work with a health professional to rid your body of excess chemicals that mimic estrogen and cause imbalances in the body.
