Are You Eating These 6 Dangerous Foods?

Food toxins make their way into our meals every day, without us even realizing it. These unsafe foods are easier to eliminate than you think. I have listed the 6 worst ones in this article. We don’t purposely add these when we are cooking for ourselves or family, yet they sneak in because we don’t know what to look for in ingredients. A major mistake people make is that they trust food manufactures to use real, wholesome food and not harmful chemicals.

To add even more confusion, there are so many diet books and different “authorities” on food that conflict with what healthy eating looks like. Take fat, for example. It is both demonized and praised by different health experts and institutions. In this article I will help clarify which 6 unsafe foods to eliminate from your daily meals.

Make it Easy

Simplicity is important when it comes to your food. We don’t want cooking to be difficult or confusing, we want it to be fun, connecting, pleasurable and healthy. So, let’s take a look at what a real food is… I recommend that my patients make the majority of their meals from whole foods. This means foods such as; fresh veggies, unprocessed grains (flour, cereals), good fats, whole fruits and animal protein.

This way we automatically cut out the chemicals, food additives and harmful fats that make food toxic. Don’t worry, you can eat those more modern processed foods, but in moderation. For example, if you go to a party it’s not going to kill you to eat some chocolate cake once in a while or a cookie, however, make it a small part of your ongoing food choices. Your ongoing food choices are going to be mostly unprocessed foods that are high in nutrition density and value.

Not all proceeded foods are bad, so I am going to cover the things you want to watch out for: check the label and make sure the following list isn’t in the ingredients. These are easy to miss, and some of them, you might have not even known are harmful to you.

Ingredients to avoid:

  1. Fat is so important for us to have in our daily meals. It’s been proven that the low-fat diet is some of the worst advise that has been promoted by health agencies such as the FDA and American Heart Association. I remember in the 80’s when I was a kid, seeing the American Heart Association endorsing margarine. Amazing! Stay away from margarine, soybean oil, canola oil. They hide in chips, muffins, desserts or other packaged foods. They often contain high amounts of an herbicide called Roundup or a chemical called Glyphosate, especially if it’s not organic. These oils cause inflammation in the body, especially when they are highly refined.

  1. Stay away from liquid calories such as: energy drinks, sweetened teas, juice and sodas, just to name a few.

  1. Avoid MSG. It is an excitotoxin which kills brain cells by over stimulating them. The FDA says it’s safe, but that just proves to me that it’s important to question and do your own research. Studies say otherwise. Dr. Russell Blaylock, a board-certified neurosurgeon and author of “Excitotoxins: The Taste that Kills”, is a good source of further reading on MSG and its dangers. There are several foods that almost always have MSG in them, and you often will not find it on the label. It can be hidden in ingredients like flavors, spices or hydrolyzed vegetable protein, and is almost always in the following foods:
  2. Hydrolyzed Protein
    2. Textured Protein
    3. Gelatin
    4. Calcium Caseinate
    5. Autolyzed Yeast
    6. Yeast Nutrient

According to the FDA, MSG Symptom Complex can involve symptoms such as:

Numbness
Burning sensation
Tingling
Facial pressure or tightness
Chest pain or difficulty breathing
Headache
Nausea
Rapid heartbeat
Drowsiness
Weakness

  1. Avoid sugar, high fructose corn syrup and beet sugar. Especially if the sugar is not organic, as it has a high chance of being contaminated with Roundupglyphosate. It is a common practice to spray sugar crops with Roundup right before harvest because it helps the desiccation of the crop.

  1. Artificial sweeteners such as: aspartame, sucralose, and sugar alcohols. There are studies showing how they affect your metabolism, and can cause weight gain as well as putting you at risk for Metabolic Syndrome Insulin Resistance.

  1. Any kind of food that you get at a fast food restaurant or a drive through window.

Conclusion:

These little change in your eating habits can make a big difference. I believe that the consumer drives the demand; just look at the organic movement. The more people that are aware of these harmful food toxins, the more power the collective has to direct what goes into our food. You can take control of your health, and your families health, through making these simple changes. I strive to help you take back control of your health though education and knowledge of the facts.
